Nottingham Forest defender confess his long-time battle with Renan Lodi at the City Ground.

At the City Ground, Nottingham Forest defender Harry Toffolo delivered a verdict on his relationship with Renan Lodi.

The Reds’ left-back has spoken to The Sun, and the 27-year-old is competing with Lodi for a spot in the team.

Toffolo has had a difficult few months at Forest, with a move to Anderlecht called off on transfer deadline day.

The Huddersfield player had agreed to join the Belgian giants. However, news that Omar Richards had suffered a setback scuttled the move.

Toffolo made his first appearance for Forest since the rematch against Wolves in October.

He played well at left-back before being replaced by Lodi in the second half as Forest attempted to seal the win.

The two players are competing for a spot on Steve Cooper’s team, but Toffolo does not regard him as a rival.

“Renan has the shirt now,” he told The Sun. I don’t see him as a competitor, but as a teammate.

“I want him to succeed, but I also need to be ready when he is – we bring out the best in each other.”

“Now I want to make an impact in the remaining games and help the club stay up.”

Toffolo delivered Lodi verdict ahead of Wolves clash

It’s fantastic that the spirits in the Forest dressing room appear to be sky-high right now.

Toffolo can consider himself unlucky, especially since the World Cup, when Lodi has really stepped up.

The 27-year-old, on the other hand, is a solid player and a valuable reserve for the Brazilian.

He began the game yesterday and did not disappoint despite facing Adama Traore.

Toffolo could have easily become dissatisfied with Forest after his failed January move.

However, he has knuckled down and deserved to start yesterday as the Reds earned a point against Wolves.

Toffolo’s challenge is to stay fit and keep pushing Lodi in the race to play left-back for the team as the season comes to a close.
