Nottingham Forest finally preparing fast to sign £1.8m star after bid submitted today

According to Football Insider, Nottingham Forest are preparing to make a £1.8 million bid for Hertha Berlin forward Derry Scherhant.

Forest have been watching Scherhant since his man-of-the-match performance against them in pre-season last summer.

Scherhant, 20, scored in that preseason friendly, and his performance impressed the Forest coaching staff.

Forest are willing to pay £1.8 million for Scherhant and believe Hertha’s relegation from the Bundesliga last season provides them with the best opportunity to reach an agreement.

This comes after Football Insider announced on Monday (10 July) that Jonjo Shelvey, Emmanuel Dennis, and Remo Freuler could leave the City Ground this summer.

Scherhant has made 10 Bundesliga appearances so far, eight as a substitute and only two starts.

The striker was named to the matchday squad 13 times during the final four months of the 2022/23 Bundesliga season.

Last season, he played 279 minutes of first-team football in Germany, scoring one goal in the process.

In addition, the striker appeared in 12 games for Hertha Berlin’s second team last season, scoring eight goals.

Scherhant has 34 direct goal involvements for Hertha Berlin’s second squad, scoring 24 goals and providing 10 assists in only 39 starts and seven substitute appearances.
