Nottingham forest in hot negotiation with Newcastle United to sign electrifying star player

This summer, an experienced former Newcastle United and Sunderland midfielder is looking for a new team.

Former Newcastle United player Jack Colback is among those searching for new teams this summer.

Colback will quit Nottingham Forest quietly later this month after helping the team retain its Premier League status last season.

“Jack’s been more than a player to me,” head coach Steve Cooper stated.

“When you look back at last season, everyone played a huge role, but when I think about Jack’s contribution, it was huge, especially with some of the goals he scored.” His experience and leadership are responsible for his contribution. He’s a true gentleman.”

Colback, who was born in Killingworth, had been looking forward to returning to the Premier League with Newcastle after the club’s elevation in 2017, but he was abruptly frozen out and instructed to train with the development team by then-manager Rafa Benitez.

Colback joined Forest on a permanent basis three years ago after commuting from Nottingham to Newcastle for training, having moved his family to the city during a former loan at the City Ground.

Colback’s “dedication” had impressed clubmate Jonjo Shelvey, who had been left out of United’s 25-man Premier League squad for the 2020/21 season by then-head coach Steve Bruce.

“He comes in, and he’s probably the best trainer,” Shelvey said In The Box. It’s difficult to know you’re not going to play.

“When he went to Forest, his wife and children moved there, so he gets a train to Newcastle every morning from Nottingham, and that’s dedication, because he could just sack it off and say ‘no, I’m not doing that,’ and I don’t think the club is that concerned about him turning up for training.”

“He still comes in here and puts it in every day, and I think hats off to him.”

Colback joined Newcastle as a free agent in the summer of 2014, when his contract with Sunderland expired.

The 33-year-old has appeared in 190 Premier League games and scored 10 goals for Forest, United, and Sunderland.

Meanwhile, Shelvey, who joined Forest in January alongside Colback, faces an uncertain future at the club.

The 31-year-old midfielder, who is under contract at the City Ground until 2025, fell out of favor with the promoted team two months after joining.
