Nottingham Forest list five best players that could leave after strong board meeting

The latest update from Forest sources today is that up to five of their best players could be sold if they go down, including Morgan Gibbs-White and in-demand defender Murillo

With their top-flight status at risk, they could be forced to sell, with Football Insider revealing (24 March) that Tottenham are keeping close tabs on Gibbs-White ahead of a potential summer deal.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were docked four points last week (18 March) for a single breach of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability laws which dropped them into the relegation zone.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former England and Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson claimed that the Reds’ star players will be “picked off” amid their financial woes and potential relegation to the Championship.

Nottingham Forest stars could quit this summer

Robinson claimed that financial pressures and PSR requirements will “scare” Forest into player sales.

“That’s what happens when you get relegated,” he told the Insider Track podcast.

“The vultures will circle over your best players when you go down to the Championship

“The best players do generally tend to get picked off whether it’s because of the player’s talent or if the club need to cut their wage bill.

“The clubs need to cut their cloth accordingly.

“Look at my old club Leeds United, for example, they lost five or six first-team regulars who are just out on loan.

“That’s what happens.

“The worrying thing for Forest is they might have to sell their best players regardless because of their profit and sustainability troubles.

“This is going to scare clubs like Forest – it really is.”
