Nottingham Forest could have to fight off interest to keep hold of defender Murillo even if they stay up this season, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke admitted there is always demand for left-footed centre-backs because there aren’t many good ones around.
The Brazilian has impressed since arriving at the City Ground for £15million from Corinthians last summer, with his contract set to run until 2028.
Football Insider revealed last month the Reds would be looking to receive a “huge” fee to sanction an exit for Murillo this summer.
O’Rourke expects the 21-year-old to receive interest from Premier League clubs and sides abroad once the transfer window reopens.
Murillo could be sold by Nottingham Forest
Murillo is one of several players Forest could face a battle to keep given the promise they have shown this season.
While the Reds may be hovering just above the relegation zone, Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Elanga and Chris Wood have all put in some excellent performances.
Murillo is the one who could receive the most attention after Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and PSG are all believed to be monitoring his situation.
The Brazilian has averaged 1.5 tackles, 4.8 ball recoveries and completed 58 per cent of his dribbles in the Premier League since arriving at Forest.
It’s unlikely the club would be able to keep him at the City Ground if they are relegated this season, putting even more pressure on Nuno Espirito Santo to keep them up over the coming weeks.
