Nottingham Forest fans in tears as star players suffered new injury

Nottingham Forest came into the Premier League season aiming to avoid the dreaded second season syndrome, and they’ve done just that. Steve Cooper’s team has only been defeated three times in eight league games, won twice and drawn three times. Their most stunning moment came against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, when Anthony Elanga’s goal was enough to secure the Midlands club a historic three points.

Despite a strong run of form despite some hard away games, the international break came at an inconvenient time for Forest, who appear to have suffered an injury blow during the break, making it all the more painful.

What is the most recent Nottingham Forest injury update?
Forest appeared to be getting off to a good start in terms of injuries, but a knock to star striker Taiwo Awoniyi quickly put that notion to rest. Cooper’s squad must now find goals elsewhere, with players like Chris Wood coming into the side in the hope of making an impact. Awoniyi isn’t the only one who has disappointed, with the latest injury news revealing yet another setback.

According to Nottingham Forest News, following Gonzalo Montiel’s injury versus Peru while on international service with Argentina, Forest must immediately evaluate their full-back. Given that the injury was severe enough to send Montiel off after only 30 minutes, Forest’s immediate availability is not looking promising.

Forest’s next Premier League encounter is at Luton Town this weekend, in what will be viewed as a crucial relegation six-pointer. If Cooper’s team is to avoid the drop or a battle, then defeating teams like Luton will be the ultimate key to survival. However, as things stand, they may be compelled to function without Montiel.

Montiel has struggled to make an impact at Forest since joining from Sevilla in the summer transfer window, starting only once in the Premier League in a dismal 1-1 draw against Burnley. Given his lack of playing experience, the right-back’s injury comes at a difficult time, especially if it is for an extended period of time.

Cooper will have a solid option to turn to if he can get the best out of the Sevilla loanee, as evidenced by previous praise from former Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui, who said: “I don’t usually individualize, but today, for example, Gonzalo Montiel competed like an animal after playing the 120 minutes in Cordoba.”
