Nottingham Forest in negotiation with West Ham and Everton to sign £40m star forward

Everton and West Ham have both expressed interest in Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson, but any interested team will have to pay £40 million for his talents.

The 22-year-old appeared in all 38 Premier League games for Forest this season, as the club survived in the top tier after an improbable promotion from the Championship last year.

The Wales international scored eight Premier League goals and gave three assists, so he wasn’t exactly prolific, but his incredible speed caused difficulties for defenses.

Johnson has the second greatest top speed in the Premier League this season, at 36.70 km/h, according to Opta, with only Manchester City’s Kyle Walker outdoing him.

The combination of pace, promise, and Premier League experience has piqued the interest of Everton and West Ham, with the Daily Mail reporting that both are mulling summer moves for the attacker.

Forest, on the other hand, will not let him go cheaply, and will not accept less than £40 million for one of their most prized assets.

Johnson only signed a new contract with the club last year, which extends through the summer of 2026, therefore the club is under no obligation to sell.

Given that Steve Cooper’s side finished above Everton in the table and only two points behind West Ham, there’s no certainty he’d quit the club he’s been with since he was eight years old for any of those teams.
