Nottingham Forest preparing fast to sign Euro 2024 best defender forest hit hot negotiation

Udinese director Gianluca Nani has admitted that one of the Italian sides’ players has ‘attracted attention’ amid reported interest from Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest have not been very busy in the transfer market this summer with the signing of midfielder Elliot Anderson and goalkeeper Carlos Miguel the only key additions so far.

Nuno Espirito Santo has a big job on his hands to steer Forest away from relegation danger as the East Midlands side came close to dropping out of the Premier League last season.

In terms of outgoings, defender Murillo is attracting interest from some of the Premier League’s top clubs including Manchester United and Liverpool but an incoming could be on the way.

Udinese director on ‘interest’ from the Premier League

Udinese’s technical directoe Gianluca Nani, has admitted there is interest in Jaka Bijol.

Bijol is a Slovenian 25-year-old centre-back who had a very solid season for the Italian side which has led to reported interest from Forest.

He played 24 Serie A games for the club last season and, as per FBREF, ranked incredibly highly in clearances and aerial duels won which suggests the Slovenian is dominant in the air.

Udinese are reportedly looking for between £11-13 million for the 25-year-old and the club’s director Nani has revealed that interest has emerged from England.

“I would be surprised if he wasn’t appreciated by Inter and other important teams. Until he was eliminated, he proved to be the best defender in the Euros. He is a complete, defensive leader, I don’t see serious amnesia, mistakes happen to everyone,” he told Tutto Udinese.

“He attracted the attention of many clubs especially in the Premier League. It’s important for us and we would like to keep him but we have to be ready. If an offer arrives, we will discuss it.”

Inter Milan reportedly in conversation for Bijol

After a tournament at Euro 2024 which was certainly an impressive one by all accounts, this has generated interest from Inter Milan.

FCInterNews claim that scouts from the Italian giants have been to watch Bijol as a potential replacement for Stefan De Vrij.

Messaggero Veneto, an Italian outlet, claim that Nottingham Forest have made an approach for the defender but the Reds may want to get a move on if they are to sign the Slovenian defender this summer with other sides hovering.
