Nottingham Forest received £4.2m enquiry from Bundesliga club for Steve Cooper signing

The Reds are practically guaranteed a place in the Premier League and now plans can start to be made for next season.

The defeat to Chelsea wasn’t ideal at the weekend but with Luton and Burnley also losing it means Forest are practically safe.

The club’s recruitment team will be identifying signings for Nuno Espirito Santo but extra emphasis will be placed on outgoings.

Ahead of the season finishing and attention turning towards transfers, one Forest player has now been the subject of an enquiry.

Augsburg make enquiry for Forest goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos

It’s now been claimed in a recent report that Augsburg are looking to add a goalkeeper to their ranks this summer.

According to Augsburger Allgemeine, the team in 10th place of the German top-flight have now asked about Forest stopper Vlachodimos.

The Greece number one signed for Forest on transfer deadline day during the summer transfer window of 2023.

Vlachodimos cost Forest £4.2 million and was expected to become the club’s number-one goalkeeper this season.

However, that didn’t quite go according to plan and following a run of five games in the team, he was dropped after a 5-0 thrashing at Fulham.

Since Matz Sels signed for the club in January he’s been demoted to third-choice stopper at Forest.

At 29-years-old that is doing nobody any favours and the writing looks to be on the wall for Vlachodimos on Trentside.

Club have to learn from Vlachodimos signing

Last summer, the Reds did actually learn a lot from their recruitment.

A number of players were signed who have made an impact, with Callum Hudson-Odoi, Anthony Elanga and Murillo all proving popular.

The goalkeeper recruitment last summer was a real basket case, however.

Matt Turner has cost the team several points, whilst Vlachodimos was in the team for four straight defeats when Cooper was in charge.

Sels has looked very capable since he arrived but it means Forest have now used six goalkeepers since winning promotion.

The Vlachodimos signing didn’t feel overly savvy and Forest will hope to learn from this addition this summer.
