Nottingham Forest have received a transfer boost as a surprise World Cup standout ‘warms to’ his Premier League homecoming

Nottingham Forest are once again connected with a move for ex-Wolves defender Romain Saiss, according to the latest transfer news.

According to reports, Nottingham Forest are planning a summer transfer approach for Besiktas defender Romain Saiss.

The 33-year-old is expected to depart the Turkish club this summer, with Forest keen to get him for a modest amount. Besiktas is thought to be considering releasing him, but only for a fee commensurate with his worth.

According to Skorer TV, Saiss, who made over 100 Premier League matches for Wolves, might be available for as little as €5 million (£4.35 million). He is thought to be “warm to” a return to the Premier League, and Besiktas would not accept anything less than that fee.

Despite his age, he would prove to be a wise piece of business for Forest, offering Premier League expertise at a modest cost. He represented Morocco at the World Cup in late 2022, when his country astonished the world by reaching the tournament’s semi-finals in Qatar.

The former Wolves centre-back, who can also play in midfield, has previously been connected with Forest, most recently in the January transfer window. According to the Turkish media, they made “great efforts” to sign him and reached an agreement on personal terms, but the deal fell through.

At centre-back, Forest already have Joe Worrall, Felipe, Scott McKenna, Moussa Niakhaté, Willy Boly, and Steve Cook under contract. Unless players leave during the summer, Saiss could become a backup option.
