Nottingham Forest reject Newcastle Utd bid to sign 19-year-old sharp young star set for debut

Chelsea turned down a number of loan offers for Santos in the summer to let him head to Forest. However, he’s made just one appearance in the Carabao Cup and that won’t appease Chelsea.

According to Team Talk, the Blues will assess the situation in January. If regular game time still isn’t on the table for Santos then they may be forced to end his loan with Forest and send him elsewhere.

Newcastle want Forest loanee Santos

The Magpies are set to be in the market for a new midfield player. Sandro Tonali looks like he could face a ban for some betting charges and that will leave Newcastle short in the engine room.

Santos has been identified as a player that Eddie Howe might like to sign in January. It’s been claimed that the Magpies will now be watching things at Forest closely ahead of the window.

The 19-year-old took part in Chelsea’s pre-season tour to America. It was there that he caught the eye and some felt as though Mauricio Pochettino would utilise him this season.

However, the Blues landed Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia in the summer and that shunted him down the pecking order and saw the club let Santos join Forest on a season-long stint.

Santos should get City Ground minutes

Steve Cooper is a master at getting a tune out of loan players. As a result, he will know what is best for Santos in terms of his development and he will surely get minutes on the pitch at some point.

What hasn’t helped Santos is that the Reds landed their top two midfield targets. Ibrahim Sangare and Nicolas Dominguez were both added and that hasn’t helped the youngster’s chances.

Still, there are plenty of games to go before January. As a result, Newcastle might need to sit tight just now and see what develops as Forest could well have big plans for him in the coming weeks.
