Nottingham Forest released strong starting XI to battle Manchester United

Nottingham Forest news as Steve Cooper’s Reds prepare to face Manchester United in the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest need need a turn around after sliding into the bottom three after nine games without a win.

When he backed head coach Steve Cooper last week, owner Evangelos Marinakis sought an instant improvement in results and performances. The Reds played better against Aston Villa last time out, but they still lost 2-0.

The challenges do not get any easier, with Manchester United visiting the City Ground on Sunday. And to add to Cooper’s woes, Forest continue to be hit hard by injuries.

Cheikhou Kouyate and Moussa Niakhate were forced off at Villa Park, while Renan Lodi and Gustavo Scarpa were left out, and Emmanuel Dennis was deemed “a risk” to be named on the bench. This is on top of a handful of long-term absentees who are still in the treatment room.

Despite starting without a true striker at Villa Park, the Reds looked dangerous on the counter in the first half. However, they will need to find a method to pose a greater threat to United, with goals remaining a concern.

Predicted Forest XI (assuming those who are injury doubts cannot play): Navas; Williams, Worrall, Felipe, Toffolo; Freuler, Mangala, Danilo; Gibbs-White; Johnson, Awoniyi.
