Nottingham Forest set all transfer plans to sign player as Steve Cooper point key factor

Latest Nottingham Forest news as the Reds prepare for the upcoming Premier League season

Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper expecting a “more normal” transfer window this year.

Twelve months ago, the Reds made 22 acquisitions in a record-breaking summer in preparation for the move to the Premier League. In January, seven more people entered the building.

Such a change brought its own set of issues, as it took time for the group to gel and Cooper to select his best combination. However, the spirit of oneness that arose was crucial in Forest preventing the plunge.

Incomings and outgoings are expected again this time around, albeit not on the same scale. And as the Reds aim to keep improving, one of the lessons from this term is on finding the right blend of youth and experience in the changing room.

“However, some of our key players this year were loans (in the form of Keylor Navas, Dean Henderson, and Renan Lodi) in key positions, so there are some obvious areas that will be part of the progression.” But there are other small projects around the team, such as Morgan (Gibbs-White), Brennan (Johnson), Neco (Williams), and Danilo, who are all young players who have seen regular Premier League action for the first time. We must consider how we will increase them next year and how they will continue to improve.

“It’s nice to know you can plan ahead of time for the summer.” Of course, you need to change and grow, but I also know that I can think about a lot of the lads we’ve worked with this year who we’ll work with next year and how we envision their progression and programs looking.
