Nottingham Forest star valued at £60m as Newcastle United are big admirers of a Trentside star

Nottingham Forest will likely need to sell one of their star players this summer and Newcastle United are big admirers of a Trentside star.

The Reds will still have financial fair play loitering in the background like a bad smell this summer.

Forest won’t want to breach another profitability and sustainability cycle and that likely means some departures from the club.

With two games of the current campaign remaining, Forest haven’t yet secured their Premier League status for another season.

They hold a three-point cushion over Luton in the Premier League table and Forest are tantalisingly close to safety.

One eye might already be on the summer and it would appear that Newcastle are already very keen on signing one of their key players this summer.

Newcastle really like Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White

Well, Newcastle aren’t really unique when it’s claimed that they like Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White.

A number of clubs have been linked with the player, with previous interest in Gibbs-White coming from London pair West Ham and Tottenham.

According to The Athletic journalist Chris Waugh, Newcastle are huge admirers of Gibbs-White and do like him ahead of the summer.

The Magpies are braced for interest in Bruno Guimaraes and that could see them search for reinforcements of their own.

Waugh claims that Gibbs-White wouldn’t be viewed as a direct replacement for the Brazilian but admits that Eddie Howe does like the Forest man.

Forest can’t lose £25m key player this summer

This would be seriously detrimental for Forest if they were to lose Gibbs-White this summer.

After signing for Wolves for £25 million – plus add-ons – Gibbs-White has grown at the City Ground and he’s worshipped by the supporters.

Forest would likely recoup a big profit on their star man, with one report suggesting it might take £60 million for any club willing to sign him.

The Reds have other players who could recoup big transfer fees – most notably Murillo – and perhaps they are better off cashing in on them instead.

Michael Dawson has stated how good he thinks Forest star Gibbs-White is, calling him ‘magnificent’ during a recent interview.

Replacing Gibbs-White would be extremely tricky given that he’s scored six goals and claimed eight assists this season.

As a result, Forest must have a serious think when it comes to entertaining offers for Gibbs-White this summer.

Newcastle will post significant threat to Forest

In a really weird way, the likes of Tottenham – and even Arsenal – being interested in Gibbs-White doesn’t overly concern us.

Okay, they’re massive clubs but Gibbs-White will want to go somewhere and continue playing regular football.

Newcastle is one club that would probably give him that and they’ve had some real joy with recruiting and utilising young players under Eddie Howe.

Anthony Gordon swapped Everton for the Magpies and is now thriving, whilst Alexander Isak is also growing at St James’ Park.

Newcastle is a class city that simply loves football and with European action on the table too, Gibbs-White would likely be seriously tempted if an acceptable offer was made.
