Nottingham Forest willing to take a huge step as they have eyes on Leicester City striker

According to sources, Nottingham Forest held preliminary talks with Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho last week, with additional talks scheduled for this week as the Reds ratchet up their chase of the Nigerian international.

Iheanacho, 26, joined Leicester City in 2017 from Nottingham Forest. The Foxes reportedly paid £25 million for the striker, who has since scored 55 goals in 206 total appearances for the club, five of which came in 28 Premier League outings last season.

Iheanacho is currently on international duty with Nigeria, where he scored in a 3-2 win over Sierra Leone on Sunday. He is now a rumored target for Nottingham Forest.

According to an exclusive source from owngoalnigeria.com, talks between Iheanacho and Forest have ‘increased in recent days,’ and preliminary conversations were held last week. According to the same report,’more talks will be undertaken this week,’ with Forest expecting to table a formal bid soon after negotiating personal terms with the Leicester striker.

Iheanacho has been an excellent performer for Leicester City over the years. He’s been with the club for a long time and has scored a lot of goals for them, including some critical ones down the line, but it appears that he’s ready for a new challenge.

He is out of contract in 2024, so now may be the best time for the Foxes to return some of the £25 million they paid for him in 2017, though whether they can recoup the majority of that price remains to be seen.

A move to Forest would be ideal for Iheanacho since it would allow him to avoid relocating too far and would also provide him with a Premier League lifeline ahead of next season.

It appears that a transfer is in the works, and we may see Iheanacho go in the coming days or weeks.
