Nuno Espirito Santo ask Nottingham Forest to go all out to sign new striker Michail Antonio

Nottingham Forest could make a shock move for a Premier League striker, according to a recent report.

The East Midlanders have retained their Premier League status two seasons on the bounce and will now be eager to push up the league table.

Nuno Espirito Santo needs to be backed in the summer transfer window and it seems he’s after a new striker.

That said, Forest are lining up a move for one who praised Evangelos Marinakis last season.

Nottingham Forest eyeing move to sign Michail Antonio

According to The Sun, Nottingham Forest eyeing a move to sign West Ham United striker Michail Antonio this summer, who was close to leaving last year.

Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig are also keeping tabs on the 34-year-old’s situation – who is expected to leave the London Stadium – as are Premier League rivals Fulham.

Though, Forest may have the advantage in any forthcoming race due to Antonio’s ties to the club.

The Hammers forward spent two years at the City Ground, netting 19 times across 54 appearances and is still fondly remembered among supporters.

Michail Antonio praised Evangelos Marinakis last season

When Marinakis stormed onto the pitch after Forest’s defeat to Liverpool last season, Antonio came out and praised him for it.

Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, he said: “I rate the owner for coming onto the pitch. I rate him!”

A short and sweet report of the Greek businessman but one that clearly shows that he wouldn’t have any issues playing under him.

Marinakis is quite a polarising figure but evidently, his overflowing passion is a trait Antonio is all for, which could entice him to make the switch to the City Ground.

The Jamaica international is currently away at the Copa America, so any forthcoming move likely won’t happen until after the tournament.
