Tottenham Hotspur are front-runners for the signature of former Chelsea attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi.
According to a report from The Sun, Callum Hudson-Odoi has revived himself in some fashion following the move to Nottingham Forest and it has resulted in a lot of interest from clubs across Europe. While there is a lot of competition for his signature, Tottenham are the ones leading the race for the former Chelsea youth product.
Tottenham are looking at ways to reinforce their squad ahead of next season and adding more firepower to their attack is one of the priorities. While they would be looking for a goal-scoring forward, the North London club also want a player who can feature on the flanks.
Callum Hudson-Odoi is someone who has caught their attention on the back of his impressive performances and Spurs are considering making a move for his signature in the summer.
While things didn’t work out for him at Chelsea, the move to Nottingham Forest last summer has done wonders despite the poor start. He struggled with injuries in the first half of the season but has been consistent on the left flank in the second half and has ended the season with three goals in the Tricky Trees’ final three games.
The 23-year-old has ended the season with 10 goal contributions in just over 2,100 minutes of first-team football. His contract with Nottingham runs until the summer of 2026 and they do not want to sanction his departure any time soon.
Spurs keen on signing Callum Hudson-Odoi
But, Spurs are willing to try their luck as the Tricky Trees need to sell one of their stars to balance their books and avoid breaching Premier League’s profit and sustainability rule again.
The England international is now valued at £30 million which is around 10 times of what Nottingham had invested to land him at the club last summer. His departure could raise significant funds for the club which could be reinvested to help them reinforce their squad further in the summer.
Ange Postecoglou has already warned the fans to expect numerous changes at the club ahead of next season. The Australian is looking to bring in players who suit his attacking style of play and he feels Hudson-Odoi has the ability to succeed in his system.
While there are two more Premier League clubs keen on the signature of the former Chelsea star, Spurs are the ones leading the race at this stage and it will be interesting to see if they do come out on top eventually.
