Steve Cooper fuming as Nottingham Forest players ‘don’t do their jobs’ against West Ham United

Steve Cooper was visibly irritated with his Nottingham Forest players following their 3-2 loss to West Ham United at the London Stadium.

After scoring via Taiwo Awoniyi and Anthony Elanga, the Reds could have taken at least a point, but they allowed goals from two second-half set pieces to lose, with Tomas Soucek heading in the winner after 88 minutes.

Cooper was quick to point out in his post-match news conference that Forest should have left the London Stadium with a positive Premier League result, but they only had themselves to blame for failing to deal with James Ward-Prowse corners.

“I would have been disappointed if we had drawn 2-2.” Losing 3-2 is quite disappointing. “I can’t and shouldn’t look beyond the goals we’ve given up,” he explained. “By not being ready to start and making a poor individual mistake (by Nicolas Dominguez), we’ve gifted an opportunity right at the start of the game.” We get level and should go up 2-1 in the second half before going ahead 2-1.

“That’s our fault.” Much will be said about James Ward-Prowse’s performance, and rightly so. He’s amazing at it, but whether the ball is brilliant or ordinary, if you’re not willing to stick with your men, you risk surrendering goals. That’s what we ended up doing.”After defeating Aston Villa a week ago with a considerably more polished defensive effort, Forest has slid back to 15th in the Premier League table with one win in seven games.
