Tottenham representatives were at the City Ground yesterday, according to Football Insider, to watch the Reds’ star man in action.
Fabio Paratici was a regular at the City Ground last season as the club monitored the progress of Djed Spence, whom they did sign in the summer.
Johnson is one of the most important players for Forest. During 2022/23, the Reds forward scored 10 goals in all competitions, including eight in the Premier League.
The Forest academy graduate, now 21, is maturing with each passing month. Last season, he scored 19 goals and had 10 assists as the Reds won promotion to the Premier League.
Steve Cooper is a big fan of Johnson and will be sad to see him go. He described him as ‘excellent’ after a 4-1 Carabao Cup win over Blackburn, with Johnson scoring twice.
The latest allegations are not surprising. It’s only natural that other clubs will look at Johnson now that he’s starting to shine in the Premier League.
Any player would be interested in signing with a club like Tottenham. They are in the midst of yet another transition, but qualifying for the Champions League remains a viable option.
Johnson is Forest through and through. He has risen through the ranks and was born in Nottingham, growing up supporting the club.
However, there will come a time when a bigger club will come calling. Forest fans will be upset, but that’s football, and big clubs will always want to sign players from the lower leagues.
From the perspective of Forest, there couldn’t have been a worse day for Tottenham to look at him. Johnson was outstanding against Wolves, and Spurs must have been pleased with what they saw.
If Liverpool stay in the Premier League, keeping Johnson should be a foregone conclusion. If the unthinkable happens and they go down, someone will undoubtedly sign him for next season.
