Transfer stance set out as Lyle Taylor awaits decision after Nottingham Forest exit

Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as Sheffield Wednesday weighing up signing former Reds striker

Former Nottingham Forest striker Lyle Taylor is no longer training with Sheffield Wednesday, but the Championship side have not yet made a decision about his future. Taylor is still on the lookout for a new club after being released by the Reds in the summer when his contract expired. The free agent started training with Wednesday last month and had been spotted attending one of their games.

However, before he was axed from his role as Owls boss on Wednesday night, Xisco Munoz said Taylor had stopped working with the group. He added a decision still needed to be made over whether the club would sign the forward. “No, he is not training with us,” Munoz told YorkshireLive after his team’s defeat to West Bromwich Albion. “We need to think about the situation.

“We will see what happens. We need to find exactly what we want. I don’t know exactly if he is what we want or what we need. We need more time. We have had a lot of games in this period. I know he is a very good player but we will see what happens in the next few days. We will then make a decision.

“We have a big problem thinking how we can improve the team in the short term, not just two, three or four weeks.”

Wednesday have a space remaining in their 25-man EFL squad. They have scored one goal in their last six games and sit bottom of the second tier table.

Taylor left Forest after a three-year spell at the City Ground, having joined as a free agent in August 2020. He was not included in the Reds’ 25-man squad last season and had spent the second half of the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Birmingham City after falling down the pecking order Trentside.
