Two Nottingham Forest stars named in Who Scored Team of the Week

Two Nottingham Forest players were given recognition for their efforts at the weekend yesterday, with Anthony Elanga and Chris Wood both named in a Team of the Week compilation.

The Reds drew 2-2 with Luton at the City Ground on Saturday. Wood scored two goals, with £15 million summer signing Elanga claiming assists for both efforts.

The two players were in good form for the Reds. Before kick-off it was announced that Callum Hudson-Odoi would miss six weeks of action; handing Elanga a starting berth.

Two Forest stars named in Team of the Week

Elanga was absolutely brilliant for Forest at the weekend. This was arguably his best performance in the Garibaldi and it offered a glimpse that Brennan Johnson can be replaced after his move to Tottenham.

Wood scored a couple of well-taken goals for Forest at the weekend. His first was a lofted effort over the goalkeeper and his second was a trademark header.

The pair were rewarded for their efforts. Who Scored named the duo in the Team of the Week and although it was disappointing for Forest not to win, it was nice to see two players included.

Wood and Elanga can star for Forest this season

Wood has taken some criticism from some supporters and some of it has been unjust. The 31-year-old won’t be considered the first-choice striker but he’s more than capable in reserve.

Elanga looks like a quality signing for the Reds. He boasts blistering pace and he already has one goal and three assists to his name despite not starting many games this season.

Furthermore, the player has been given praise from Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the past. He called him a ‘great talent’ when he was playing alongside him for Manchester United.

Together the pair can strike up a useful relationship. Elanga knew exactly where Wood needed the ball on Saturday and hopefully, they can continue helping Forest to pick up points as the season progresses.
