The Alabama basketball team created history this season and will make even more on Thursday night at the 2023 NBA Draft. Alabama had two players picked in the first round of an NBA draft for the first time since 1995 when Brandon Miller (No. 2 overall, Charlotte Hornets) and Noah Clowney (No. 21 overall, Brooklyn Nets) were selected. Miller was widely assumed to be a one-and-done possibility when he arrived in Tuscaloosa. Clowney, on the other hand, was the lowest-rated high school recruit in the 2022 signing class, but he rapidly impressed NBA scouts.
As freshmen, both Miller and Clowney started every game for the Crimson Tide and contributed significantly to Alabama’s success as the team’s leading scorer and rebounder. Miller is expected to sign a four-year contract worth more than $49 million, according to Spotrac. Clowney should also agree to a four-year deal costing more than $15 million. This is the second time in Nate Oats’ tenure that multiple Crimson Tide players were chosen in the same draft. Only Kentucky and Duke have had more first-round picks since Oats took charge.
