Tyrese Proctor is one of 70 Duke basketball players to reach 1,000 career points.
Shortly after joining that exclusive club of Blue Devils with seven points at Miami, Proctor joined Maliq Brown on Duke’s injury list. The junior guard injured his left knee in the final minute of the first half in what ended up being a 97-60 win against the Hurricanes. He didn’t return in the second half.
Duke coach Jon Scheyer said Wednesday night on his radio show that imaging showed Proctor sustained a bone bruise but no structural damage.
“Basically, it’s about pain tolerance, and it’s about his movement and strengthening,” Scheyer said.
“We’ll be very cautious with that and smart. I don’t want to give an exact timetable because it depends on how we can get him moving over the next days or weeks or however long it takes. But we’re going to get him back, which is the most important thing.”

It’s unclear how long the situation will affect the second-ranked Blue Devils (25-3, 16-1 ACC) moving forward as March Madness closes in. But there will almost certainly be an adjustment period.
A starter in each of Duke’s 28 games this season, Proctor is having the best year of his career. Considered the team’s top perimeter defender, Proctor is averaging a career-best 11.8 points on 43.7% shooting, including a 40.8% clip from 3-point range.
