Kaizer Chiefs are one of the clubs that would be considered for a move for Elias Mokwana if the Bafana Bafana international was to make a comeback to the PSL.

Mokwana secured a move to Tunisian giants Esperance last month following his impressive two seasons with Sekhukhune United where he had been one of the top performers.

Chiefs are one of the clubs that have been interested in the player, with the Soweto giants having tabled an offer for his services, before the 25-year-old winger signed with Esperance.

While Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns were also linked with Mokwana, it was Amakhosi that showed serious interest although in the end they also missed out as the player opted for a switch to North Africa.

However, indications from sources close to the player are that the door has not closed for the winger to join the Glamour Boys if he decides to come back to the PSL one day.

“One thing about Elias Mokwana is that he does like Chiefs and that’s why he considered joining the club before the Esperance deal happened. Of the clubs he was linked with in the PSL, Chiefs were the most serious and the player was keen to join them. Pirates and Sundowns were also mentioned among the clubs that showed interest but there was nothing concrete from both clubs as only Chiefs came forward with a formal offer,” said the Siya source.

“It was a good offer that Chiefs made but it was decided in the end that a move abroad would work well for the player at this stage of his career. Having said that, the door hasn’t closed for him to join the club in future. Chiefs and Sekhukhune United will be given first preference on the boy should he decide to come back home one day,” the source added.
