Royal Blues begin preparations for Münster away
FC Schalke 04 began their preparations on Monday afternoon under the leadership of interim coach Jakob Fimpel for the away game at Preußen Münster this Saturday (28/9) at 20:30 CEST. There was another new face involved too: Tim Albutat, captain of the U23s, is training with the squad in the coming days due to a number of injuries to midfielders.
Paul Seguin is still unable to take part in team training. Schalke’s number 7 is continuing to suffer from a groin problem and cannot handle a normal workload. Janik Bachmann, who has recovered from the illness he had last week, is also not training due to the knee pain he picked up in the game at Karlsruher SC. The 28-year-old will not be fit in time to play in Münster.
The same applies to right-back Adrian Gantenbein. He already missed the home game against SV Darmstadt 98 due to a thigh muscle injury and will be unavailable until the international break, which begins after the home game against Hertha BSC at the start of October. Vitalie Becker (groin) is still training individually.
Aris Bayindir, Peter Remmert, Mauro Zalazar and Steve Noode will train with the U23s this week. Bayindir, Remmert and Zalazar have all featured for the club’s reserves in several games in the fourth division this term.
