Southampton beat West Brom in battle for Utilita Kids Cup Final

The last instalment of the Utilita Kids Cup Final will take place this weekend at Wembley Stadium ahead of the Championship Play-Off Final.

The Championship Grand Final will be contested between Southampton, represented by St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School, and West Bromwich Albion, represented by Walkwood Church of England Middle School.

The Saints progressed to the Final after beating Queens Park Rangers, represented by Earl’s Court Free Primary, on penalties. The game was tied at 1-1 after full time, but Southampton – playing on home soil in the Southern Final – made it through to Wembley.

Elsewhere, West Bromwich Albion overcame Blackburn Rovers, represented by Salesbury Primary School, 2-1 in the Northern Regional Final, which took place at Leeds United.

Last weekend saw two teams crowned Utilita Kids Cup champions when the League One and League Two Finals took place under the famous arch.

On Saturday, Walsall, represented by Cooper and Jordan Church of England School, saw off Bradford City, represented by Blakehill Primary School, in a 2-1 win for the Saddlers. And on Sunday, Cheltenham Town, represented by Longlevens Junior School, beat Port Vale, represented by St. Giles & St. George’s Academy in a 3-1 win for the Robins.

Clinton Morrison and Jermaine Beckford were in attendance across the weekend as official ambassadors for the competition and this Sunday, former Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace star Glenn Murray will meet and greet the Championship Finalists.
