John Wenham has speculated that Everton could look to sign Tottenham striker Richarlison once a takeover is complete at Goodison Park.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose doesn’t see any other clubs paying big money to sign the Brazillian.
Spurs signed Richarlison from Everton in a deal worth £60million (via Sky Sports News, 1 July 2022). The striker has largely struggled since moving to North London, with Daniel Levy being urged to cut ties.
Richarlison was linked with a potential transfer to Saudi Arabia during the summer. However, the 27-year-old rejected the move (via BBC Sport, 8 August).
His former side is set to be taken over by The Friedkin Group (via Everton’s official website, 23 September).
Therefore, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – could see the Toffees making a move for their former star.
“It is frustrating that a move to Saudi Arabia didn’t work out,” Wenham said.
“I can’t imagine anybody else paying us the money unless something mad happens with Everton.
“Perhaps they will offer us the money back once they get taken over. You know what football is like, something like that can happen.
“I don’t see any other clubs being willing to pay the £60million.”
Richarlison to quit Tottenham and re-sign for Everton?
Any new owner of a football club would want to kick things off with a big statement signing. As a result, Dan Friedkin could perhaps benefit from bringing a former fan favourite in Richarlison back to Goodison Park.
However, Richarlison has only managed to play 25 minutes of football for Tottenham this season.
Therefore, the Toffees could be put off from spending big due to these glaring injury issues, something which will have no doubt frustrated Ange Postecoglou.
However, if a move were to materialise, it could be of great benefit perhaps to both clubs.
