Ange Postecoglou names three Tottenham youngsters who are ‘ready’ to face Coventry

Tottenham Hotspur will be eager to put their crushing North London derby defeat behind them on Wednesday night.

Spurs get their League Cup campaign under way when they head to Championship outfit Coventry City in midweek.

The League Cup presents one of the best opportunities for Tottenham to claim silverware this term, so they will be eager to go far.

However, there’s a good chance Spurs will still make some changes for the game and give some of their young stars a chance to shine.

Now, Ange Postecoglou has shared whether the likes of Mikey Moore could feature for Tottenham against the Sky Blues.

Ange Postecoglou ‘keen’ for Tottenham talents like Mikey Moore to get game time

Postecoglou, speaking to football.london on Tuesday afternoon, said the likes of Moore, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall are all “ready to play”.

The Tottenham boss also said all three players are “training really well” and could have a “big part” to play from now until the New Year.

“You can see them,” began Postecoglou. “Yeah, they might even be on the pitch mate.

“Yeah, they’re ready to play and we’re keen to get them some game time. That’s why we brought them to the club.

“They’re training really well and the games haven’t gone the way we wanted in terms of giving them some more exposure but we always knew that this is the period where it starts.

“Not just between now and the next international break but post that, probably until the end of January we’re going to have a really busy schedule and they’re going to play a big part in that.”

Mikey Moore deemed ‘one of England’s most exciting prospects’

At just 17 years of age, Moore has effectively outgrown the Under-18s setup already and is now firmly in the Under-21 picture, along with being in and around the first-team.

Moore has already featured competitively for Tottenham’s senior team, getting minutes in Spurs’ last two games of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

He was prominent in pre-season and has shown his quality at Under-21 level this term with one goal and two assists in the EFL Trophy draw with Bristol Rovers.

Michael Bridge recently described the Tottenham talent as “one of England’s most exciting prospects”, as per the Sky Sports website.

If all goes well, Moore should feature against Coventry, and it’ll be exciting to see how he fares in a game that has become crucial for Tottenham and Postecoglou.
