Another star shown the exit door as Spur hit €42m negotiations with Real Betis to seal deal

Real Betis are closing in on the signing of Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Davinson Sanchez, 27.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, La Liga heavyweights Real Betis are interested in signing Davinson Sanchez ahead of next season. The future of the 27-year-old defender has been uncertain for some time, but he appears to be on his way to Spain.

Sanchez joined Tottenham Hotspur from Ajax in a big-money move in the summer of 2017.Spurs paid a fee of €42 million to sign the Colombian international.

He went from strength to strength during his time at the club and has so far featured in 205 matches for the London club. The 27-year-old has done a decent job over the years. But of late, he hasn’t been at his best, and Sanchez never really managed to reach the heights that were expected from him.

Last season, all he could manage was just over 1,200 minutes in 24 appearances. The former Ajax defender spent the majority of the time on the bench. As a result, he is ready to leave in search of more first-team minutes next season.

The Colombian international is ready to leave Tottenham Hotspur almost six years after joining the London club. His contract will expire in the summer of 2024. And, with only a year left on his contract, moving him makes more sense than losing him for free next summer. Meanwhile, Spurs are on the lookout for defensive reinforcement, with Gleison Bremer being linked.

While clubs from all across Europe have expressed an interest in signing him, Real Betis are the frontrunners. The Spanish club wants him to join their ranks as they strive to enhance their roster. Manuel Pellegrini, their manager, believes the 27-year-old still has a lot to contribute and can help them take the next step.

Betis are on the verge of an agreement with Tottenham. The negotiations are nearing completion, and a final decision is likely within a week. Betis is set to offer the Colombian international a two-year contract worth €2 million.

Spurs are expected to collect a fee of roughly €7 million from the transfer, which does not make fans happy given that they paid €42 million on him. However, with his contract expiring, they are limited in their options.
