Tottenham Hotspur may have to reconsider their plans for the summer transfer window.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou may have to perform some magic in the transfer window because a move for Edmond Tapsoba would surpass the club’s stated summer budget. Spurs confirmed the permanent signing of Dejan Kulusevski for £26 million this month, but they were required to pay £39 million for Pedro Porro.
The full-back joined on loan from Sporting Lisbon in January, with the option to buy at the conclusion of the season. Guglielmo Vicario, goalkeeper for Empoli, looks ready to be Tottenham’s first formal signing since Postecoglou took over as manager, with a medical scheduled for this week.
The 26-year-old is expected to join for £17 million, with a further £25 million due to be spent on Bayer Leverkusen defender Tapsoba. All four transactions will bring Tottenham’s summer spending to £107 million, which is allegedly more than the club had planned for, with additional signings still desired.
Tottenham have set aside £100 million for the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Record. This does not include the costs paid for Porro and Kulusevski, but deals for Tapsoba and Vicario might consume half of that cash.
