According to Sport, a deal to bring Clement Lenglet from Barcelona to Tottenham has ‘advanced significantly,’ with the La Liga club willing to cave.
Lenglet spent the 2022/23 season on loan with Tottenham, despite being part of a Premier League defense that let in goals at will.
Despite this, and the fact that Spurs will change managers in 2023, it appears the Lilywhites are still interested in bringing the Frenchman back to North London on a permanent basis.
Barcelona is willing to give in to Tottenham’s requests.
According to Sport, there is now hope that this agreement will go through, and Barcelona “knows they will have to give in” to get Lenglet’s pay off their books.
This would imply that any negotiations are going the way of Tottenham and Daniel Levy, as the Lilywhites seek a bargain signing.
Web Opinion: Spurs
I’m not clear how Lenglet fits into Postecoglou’s shape, unless he fills in as a defensive left-back at times.
I’m fine with it as long as Spurs sign a couple of more center-backs. However, I believe that Lenglet being one of the two new defensive additions would be a mistake.
