Daniel Levy set eyes on dream successor as Harry Kane set to leave spur this week

The Lilywhites are said to be interested in signing the wanted-by PSG player this summer.

With rumors rife about Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham Hotspur, chairman Daniel Levy may be eyeing a dream successor to the England captain in the manner of PSG contract rebel Kylian Mbappe.

What are the most recent Tottenham Hotspur transfer rumors?

According to various reports, Levy may be forced to sell Kane this summer rather than risk letting the 29-year-old leave for nothing in a year’s time. Mbappe appears to be in a similar situation at the Parc des Princes, as the Ligue 1 giants will not entertain a free transfer exit for the Frenchman next summer if he does not commit his future to the club.

Spurs may attempt to capitalize on the uncertainty surrounding the 24-year-old’s current predicament, according to French source L’Equipe, with the north Londoners claimed to be among the clubs that have ‘collected information’ from PSG head, Nasser al-Khelafi in recent days.

Tottenham, as well as their other admirers, are said to see a ‘possibility’ of signing the former Monaco star on loan for the upcoming season, with Ange Postecoglou set to make a ‘important’ bid to persuade his present club to agree to that temporary release.

This comes amid reports that Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal have made a massive £260 million approach for the forward, despite Football Transfers estimating his worth at closer to €126 million (£108 million).

For many, attempting to replace Kane either this summer or the next appears something of an impossible task, with the Premier League side set to be forced to fill the void of a player who is their all-time record scorer, having also netted 30 league goals last season to finish second in the scoring charts behind Erling Haaland (36).

If there was a man to plug the gap, however, it would seemingly be Mbappe, with the “crazy” talent – as described by Arsenal icon, Thierry Henry – having arguably been more clinical than the Englishman in recent times.

While the former has 280 goals in 453 games in all competitions for Spurs, with a goal-to-game ratio of 0.61, his PSG counterpart has 212 goals in only 260 games for his present club, with a goal-to-game ratio of 0.81.

Similarly, despite Kane’s heroics last season, in which he tallied 32 goals and supplied five assists in 49 games across all competitions, the Walthamstow native was edged out by Mbappe, who contributed 41 goals and 10 assists in just 43 appearances across all fronts.
