Tottenham has received a boost from David Raya, a £40 million-rated Spanish international who prefers to join the North London club.
According to renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, David Raya’s priority in the summer transfer window is to join Tottenham Hotspur. And neither club should be concerned about personal terms. Meanwhile, Brentford will ask for £40 million to release the Spanish international.
Throughout his professional career, David Raya has been one of the top goalkeepers on English soil. The 27-year-old spent the majority of his playing career away of the spotlight before breaking out with Brentford. He joined the Bees in July 2019 and has grown steadily over the last four years.
Brentford have used the Spanish international 161 times, with 54 clean sheets. Raya has also appeared twice for La Roja. However, the player’s contract with the London club expires this summer, since he has just over a year left on it. Tottenham Hotspur have been made aware of the situation, with Brentford wanting £40 million to part ways with him.
Hugo Lloris will depart Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window. While the North London giants were already considering parting ways with the experienced goalkeeper, he is open to fresh challenges. With Lloris gone, Tottenham will be down to Fraser Forster as their only senior goalie.

As a result, the North London club should make a summer transfer window investment in a competent goalkeeper. And David Raya has emerged as a realistic Tottenham target. Meanwhile, the Spanish international is prioritizing a move to Tottenham ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Given the player’s desire to join the North London club, personal terms will not be an issue for either party. However, Tottenham may not be willing to invest £40 million to sign Raya during the summer transfer window. And, while recent reports suggested a Manchester United hijacking was on the cards, it may not happen.
