Tottenham Hotspur are now working hard to strengthen their defensive ranks.
Spurs are allegedly close to signing Micky van de Ven and Ashley Phillips.
Van de Ven would almost certainly start for Tottenham right away, while Phillips appears to be a future starter.
Now, according to DAZN journalist Orazio Accomando, Spurs have ‘came forward’ for yet another target.
The man in question is Torino center-back Perr Schuurs, with whom Tottenham had previously been linked.
Spurs were among numerous Premier League clubs interested in the 23-year-old, according to Tuttosport earlier this year.
Tottenham could now try to stymie Crystal Palace’s pursuit of Schuurs.
Accomando stated on Twitter that Spurs have ‘came forward once again’ for the Dutchman.
Despite the fact that the players apparently agreed to deals with Palace.
Tottenham is reportedly willing to ‘increase the offer both for Torino and for the player’.
It’s worth mentioning, though, that Schuurs has no plans to leave the peninsula.
Nonetheless, a hefty offer from Tottenham could alter his and his club’s heads.
According to previous estimates, Schuurs’ club values him at 40 million euros, or roughly £35 million.
‘Very impressive.’
Schuurs would be an excellent signing for Tottenham. He’s incredibly brilliant, youthful, physically imposing, and reasonably priced.
Last season, he made 30 Serie A appearances for Torino, immediately establishing himself after joining from Ajax.
Prior to his departure to Italy, Schuurs was regarded as “one of the best ball-playing defenders in the Netherlands,” according to a 90Min report.
‘His distribution and poise in possession are really excellent, and speak to his background as a young player playing in midfield, albeit he hasn’t played there for Ajax.’
