Fans set the flags up already to welcome star set for Postecoglou’s Spurs arrival

With the arrival of Ange Postecoglou, a tifo has been planned for the first home game of the season.

When the Tottenham Hotspur stadium opened in April 2019, it was the culmination of years of design and construction. The 62,300-seat stadium was ready for games, and people could return to N17.

The South Stand, originally known as Park Lane, was the focal point. This 17,500-seat wall was slated to be the new stadium’s throbbing heart, and because it was a single-tier stand, the developers wanted it to be a “wall of sound.” (Populous).

The club has supported the usage of tifos (stadium visual displays) and has built three of its own for the most significant events.

For the first champions league game at the new stadium on April 17, 2019, the words ‘to dare is to do’ were plastered along the south stand by fans holding up pieces of card.

The next one came in the 3-0 win over Arsenal in May 2022, three years after the first. The atmosphere needed to be electric and the fans delivered, with every fan playing their role in keeping the volume constant.

Garry Neville said after the game, “That atmosphere, I’ve not seen in a stadium in this country” (Sky Sports).

The most recent club-arranged tifo commemorated Harry Kane being Spurs’ all-time leading goal scorer. ‘Harry’ was the word of choice for the South Stand, as every supporter held their card high and sang “he’s one of our own” as he stepped onto the pitch.

These, however, have not been the only tifos witnessed by Spurs fans in recent years.THFC Flags is a fan-led organization that was founded in March 2022 with the goal of improving the atmosphere at the stadium. Their intention was to develop displays that fans could customize and pay for.

Within 7 months, they had arranged for there to be a tifo for the Sporting Lisbon match in the Champions League. This was a must-win game, and they felt that it would be a great occasion to have a fan-led tifo. The tifo read “THFC” with the club emblem in the middle.

The supporters and rapper AJ Tracey, who is also a big Spurs fan, paid for this. The club provided no funding because they wanted to “keep it very separate.” As a result, it ensures that we can be fan-led.”

This was an important component of the organization because it served as an outlet for fans rather than a conduit for the club’s messaging.

According to THFC Flags, “it demonstrated that fans can simply crack on and do something, and they will have an impact.” This has helped to create a positive mood at the games.

The south stand is now engulfed with flags for every game that THFC Flags organises behind the scenes. THFC flags told us that the whole operation usually has “about a couple of people handing flags out. And then there’ll be roughly 30 people holding flags”.

The first home game of the season will be on August 19 against Manchester United. THFC Flags is now raising funds so that there can be a tifo to commemorate Postacoglou’s arrival. It will be a tifo card with the words ‘Welcome to N17′ on it.

THFC Flags is working hard to keep this rolling and meet the manufacturers’ four-week deadline. They confirmed to Spurs Web, “Yes, we are on track so far.” The majority of the funds for the tifos and flags come from fan donations on their website.

When asked about the rest of the season’s plans, THFC Flags stated, “We’ll get more flags.” We’ll almost certainly attempt for more tifos as well. But I believe the most important thing for us is to increase our monthly contributions. Because it allows us to do tasks at a faster rate.”

Fans have been requesting a surfer tifo; this is a tifo that is built as a whole rather than as separate cards. Instead of being a still-motion exhibition, this would be passed around the south stand. THFC Flags has taken note of this and has dispatched a surfer – “this time a proper surfer.”

The first home game must have a terrific atmosphere to welcome Postacoglu. Getting the manager to connect with the fans is essential, and hopefully, a spectacular tifo can do exactly that.
