Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte this summer, with the French-born Spain international allegedly “available” for trade.
According to a recent report from 90min, while other teams are interested in signing him, Spurs may attempt to strike a deal to solve their defensive issue.
The north London club shipped 63 goals in the Premier League this season, more than any other team in the top 14, highlighting exactly where new manager Ange Postecoglou needs to prioritize as he looks to create a winning mentality in order to return to European competition and end a 15-year trophy drought.
The Citizens value Laporte at around £40 million, and while he still has two years left on his current contract at the Etihad Stadium, limited game time has led to the general consensus that he will leave for greener pastures when the transfer window opens, and Tottenham could benefit.
How talented is Aymeric Laporte?
Laporte, who joined the Sky Blues from Athletic Bilbao for £57 million in 2018, has made 179 appearances for the club, winning five Premier League crowns, two FA Cups, and four Carabao Cups, with the Champions League final just a day away.
He would bring experience and talent to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as a defender for one of the best teams in the world for half a decade, possibly instilling a winning mentality into a squad desperate for silverware after an interminable period without silverware.
