Clement Lenglet has been left out of Barcelona training amid reports that he is close to completing a permanent move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Clement Lenglet has been exempted from first-team training at Barcelona until next week due to links to Tottenham Hotspur.
Barcelona’s official website confirms that Lenglet did not return to pre-season training on Monday.
It has been reported that Lenglet would not be obliged to attend training until July 18th, which is one week from today.
Lenglet did show up for medical testing on Monday, but Xavi has kept him out of first-team training plans.
The only plausible explanation is that Lenglet is being allowed time off to finalize a transfer, which brings Tottenham into the picture.
Mundo Deportivo published an update on Lenglet’s position shortly after Barcelona’s statement last night.
They report that Lenglet will now sign a contract with Tottenham in the coming days.
If an agreement with Spurs cannot be reached, Lenglet is expected to fly on Barcelona’s US trip next week.

Last season, the Frenchman was only ordinary, and a permanent move would hardly excite anyone.
Lenglet has demonstrated that, unlike a target like Edmond Tapsoba, he does not increase the level of Tottenham’s starting XI.
At 28, Lenglet lacks the potential and resale value of another left-footed Spurs target, Micky van de Ven.
Unlike Tosin Adarabioyo, who has been linked with a move to Fulham, Lenglet does not help Tottenham’s homegrown numbers.
Not checking any of those boxes is a worry for us, and we would urge Tottenham to look elsewhere for a center back after seeing what Lenglet can accomplish the first time around, which wasn’t all that spectacular.
