James Maddison is performing at the top of his game at Tottenham Hotspur and proving to be one of the signings of the season.
On the Premier League stage, everyone can see, even before his injury during Tottenham’s defeat to Chelsea in November, he was probably the best player in the league.
So, you would think that would equate to more minutes on the field of play for the Spurs superstar, especially when he went on international duty with England.
Well, think again!
Even though England suffered a 1-0 friendly defeat to Brazil over the weekend, James Maddison was an unused substitute and he was only handed around 20 minutes against Belgium on Tuesday night.
Despite spending so little time on the pitch, Tottenham’s creative machine still provided the assist for Jude Bellingham’s equalising goal in stoppage-time to rescue the game.
After the match, Jude Bellingham sent a four-word message to James Maddison on Instagram by writing ‘what a f____g player’
When someone like the Real Madrid star can see the talents of the 27-year-old, then you have to question what isn’t Gareth Southgate seeing this and why isn’t he playing him more because this is becoming embarrassing for the England boss.

“@judebellingham Great character at the death to salvage something at Wembley! Need to take that attitude into the summer,” wrote Maddison.
Will Tottenham’s James Maddison go to Euro 2024?
Most England fans would answer yes. Even Bellingham would want him in the team if you asked him, you can see the connection between the two on the pitch.
But will Southgate select Maddison in his final 23-man squad for Euro 2024?
There has to be a doubt, not because of the player’s qualities, but because of Southgate’s thinking and how he seems to be blind as a bat.
Given how little time he has provided Maddison, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he does leave him at home in the summer because he is clearly seeing different things from others.
