Jurgen Klinsmann spots ‘little problem’ Ange Postecoglou needs to fix at Tottenham after Coventry win

Tottenham Hotspur managed to scrape through to the next round of the Carabao Cup with a win over Coventry City.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side didn’t make things easy for themselves, as late goals from Djed Spence and Brennan Johnson swung the tie in Spurs‘ favour.

After plenty of criticism for Johnson, Ange Postecoglou revealed that he’s working hard every day to try and improve on his game.

Djed Spence is another who has a point to prove after his Europa League snub from Ange Postecoglou.

However, it wasn’t all positives for Spurs as defensively they got found out at times, with the high line and full-backs bombing forward getting them caught out on the counter attack.

Jurgen Klinsmann certainly wasn’t happy with one particular thing he saw, which led to him voicing his opinion after the game…

Jurgen Klinsmann spots a ‘little problem’ Spurs need to fix

Jurgen Klinsmann appeared 68 times for Spurs, scoring 38 goals and assisting 15.

His managerial instincts kicked in after watching Tottenham vs Coventry in the Carabao Cup, as he shared one problem he spotted that needs fixing immediately.

When speaking on ESPN, Klinsmann stated that Spurs’ defending from set pieces is an attitude problem.

“There’s obviously things you’ve got to fix. And the set pieces, especially corner kicks have been a problem for them last season.

“It’s now been a little problem and got to work on them. It’s an attitude issue, I don’t think it’s now necessarily a discussion of zonal or man-to-man marking or whatever or the goalkeeper should come out early.

“It needs to get fixed by the players; they need to make sure they’re spot on when the ball flies in the box.”

Tottenham’s issues defending set pieces

This isn’t the only game Spurs have had issues with when it comes to defending this season.

Gabriel Magalhaes was able to muscle his way through to score Arsenal’s only goal of the game in the North London derby, which saw Shay Given slam Cristian Romero for his role.

Guglielmo Vicario has also turned into a target from corners in particular, having been labelled as a ‘weak link’.

Set pieces are something Ange is beginning to get annoyed about being asked questions about in his press conferences, but if you don’t improve in a certain area, reporters will naturally wonder why improvements aren’t being made when a problem is so glaringly obvious.

It’s something that desperately needs addressing as it’s costing Ange Postecoglou points
