‘Keep an eye on him’ – Wenham raves about 16y/o Tottenham gem after what he has done recently

John Wenham has encouraged Tottenham supporters to keep a close eye on 16-year-old forward Lucá Williams-Barnett.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose is impressed by how easily the youngster has adapted to Under-18 football.

Williams-Barnett has made a huge impression in his first full season with Spurs’ Under-18s, scoring five goals and providing two assists in six Under-18 Premier League appearances so far.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has provided a bit more insight into the player.

“What people need to remember, is he is actually playing a year up,” Wenham said.

“Therefore, he isn’t even an official Under-18s player, he is still a schoolboy player. As a result, he will be announced in next year’s intake if he signs a scholarship.

“He is heavily regarded because he can play equally as well on the wing as he can in the number 10 position. He’s a very gifted technical footballer.

“It has been fantastic to see him step up with ease, he is starting every game and making a really positive contribution. Spurs fans should keep an eye on him at youth level.”

Lucá Williams-Barnett shining for Tottenham Under-18s

Mikey Moore is only 17 years old and is already a consistent feature in the Tottenham first-team, with a lot of excitement about him behind the scenes.

Therefore, although Williams-Barnett is still only 16, that doesn’t mean he can’t rise through the ranks quickly.

If he continues to make an impression on the Under-18s, it might not be long until he is playing with Spurs’ Under-21s. As a result, he would then be on the direct radar of Ange Postecoglou.

Should he continue to make an impression at that level too, then Spurs could soon have the next Moore on their hands before Moore himself has even become established.
