Lee Dixon says £75k-a-week Tottenham ace is the ‘worst’ he’s seen after just 33 touches vs Arsenal

Tottenham just haven’t reached their full potential just yet under Ange Postecoglou with a number of improvements to be made all over the field.

Ange Postecoglou has some important things to be working on before the Lilywhites’ next Premier League game, with a trip to face Coventry City up next.

Tottenham gave away the only goal in the North London derby due to some shoddy defending from a corner, as Gabriel Magalhaes gave Cristian Romero a slight nudge.

Nowadays, more and more teams pile players into the six-yard box to crowd out the goalkeeper, and this worked to perfection for Arsenal.

Despite Romero being the player who lost his man slightly for the goal, it was one of his teammates who took the full force of the criticism from pundits and fans up and down the country…

Lee Dixon says £75k-a-week Tottenham star is the ‘worst’ he’s seen after his Arsenal display

Paul Merson wasn’t too fond of James Maddison’s display in the North London derby, as he called for the Englishman to do more in games for Spurs.

However, Lee Dixon picked on a different player.

When speaking on on NBC Sports, the former Arsenal player voiced his concern over Guglielmo Vicario.

“Vicario is probably the worst I’ve seen from a goalkeeper of his height dominate his six-yard box. He doesn’t do it.

“To put the ball constantly from set pieces into that position, at some point you’re going to get some joy, and Gabriel made it his ball.”

Ange Postecoglou’s stance on GuglielmoVicario at Tottenham

It has been claimed that there is now an acceptance around Tottenham that Vicario needs to improve at defending corners and crosses.

Interestingly, the report notes that Spurs don’t have an endless pot of money – indicating that they’re unlikely to sign a Vicario replacement any time soon.

It’s unlikely that Ange Postecoglou will call upon Fraser Forster anytime soon in the Premier League as we’re not quite sure if the Australian even trusts him.

There’s no doubt that Vicario can be one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League on his day, but right now, he’s making it too easy for the opposition to dominate him.
