Leeds United are on the verge of signing Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon on a loan deal to Elland Road.
Tottenham Hotspur have agreed to allow defender Joe Rodon go on loan, with Leeds United interested.
According to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, Leeds have agreed a season-long loan deal for Tottenham defender Rodon.
The technicalities of the agreement are expected to be completed in the coming days, with Leeds on the approach of signing Rodon.
After losing both Robin Koch and Maximilian Wober this summer, the Whites require defensive reinforcements.
Nat Phillips and Pantelis Chatzidiakos have been connected with Leeds in recent days, but it is Rodon who is now set to move to Elland Road.
Leeds will now have another Welsh international in their ranks, bringing Rodon back into the fold with Ethan Ampadu and Daniel James.
Tottenham have placed Rodon on the transfer list, according to the London Evening Standard.
Rodon is on the verge of leaving Tottenham and will return to Rennes on loan after spending the second half of last season there.
Joe Rodon has finally joined Leeds United.
This will be a welcome boost to Daniel Farke’s Leeds back line.
Some of Leeds’ defending in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Cardiff City was quite concerning, and the club simply needed to bring in more defenders, especially after Liam Cooper’s injury.
Rodon will now join the club after impressing in the Championship with Swansea City.
Rodon’s form with the Swans prompted a move to Tottenham, with the transaction totaling £15 million with add-ons.
Rodon’s move to North London didn’t work out, but he’s been on Leeds’ radar for a time now.
The Telegraph claimed in December 2021, during the Marcelo Bielsa era, that Leeds were interested in loaning Rodon.
Although no agreement was struck at the time, Rodon now appears to be on his way to becoming a Leeds player, and he will be eager to get his career back on track.
