Johnson, whose father David also played for Forest, joined the club as an eight-year-old and progressed through the Academy.
He enjoyed a successful loan spell at Lincoln City before returning to the City Ground, where his combined total of 25 goals and assists helped Forest win promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs in 2021/22.
Johnson has made 41 top flight appearances, scoring eight goals and producing three assists.
Spurs fans could get their first glimpse of Johnson when they host newly promoted Sheffield United on Saturday 16 September.
