Tottenham £23m midfielder finally send heart-touching exit message to club as fans go in tears

Lucas Moura is set to depart Tottenham Hotspur, and the Brazilian has spoken out about his time in North London.

Spurs bought the winger from PSG in January 2018 for £23 million (BBC). He never lived up to the hype, but he remained a popular character at the club.

Lucas will depart Tottenham when his contract expires at the end of this month. In an interview with L’Equipe, he said the following.

Lucas was given a magnificent send-off by Tottenham fans in the final game of last season.

The Brazilian came off the bench as a substitute for the final stages of the game, and to everyone’s amazement, he scored a really good solo goal with the little time he had.

After the game, the 30-year-old was in tears as he said goodbye to his teammates, staff, and, of course, the Tottenham supporters who have supported him over the years.

In a recent interview in France, Lucas stated that he is proud to have his name written in Tottenham’s history books. He is, nevertheless, saddened by the fact that he must depart.

“I think it’s a mix of emotions,” he stated.

“I’m leaving with my head held high and a sense of accomplishment.” I’ve established something strong and left my mark on Tottenham’s history, but I’m also departing with a sense of sorrow. It’s difficult to leave this club, my friends, the city… It will be remembered as a positive experience.

“I’ve developed and advanced. My only regret is that I did not win a championship. That’s a pity.”

Lucas will become a free agent on July 1st, and he claims there are numerous clubs interested in his services.

The Brazilian also stated that he ‘wouldn’t rule out’ joining one of Tottenham’s Premier League rivals, but he is also open to transferring abroad for a fresh experience.

Lucas is a talented player with a plenty of experience. He’d be a good acquisition for a number of clubs in Europe, and we should find out where he’ll be going soon.

It will be intriguing to watch how Lucas does in the Premier League if he remains.
