Tottenham very advanced talk to sign €20m star in coming weeks

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking to sign Clement Lenglet permanently at the end of the season.

The Frenchman is presently on loan at the London club and has performed admirably during his time there.

Spurs are ready to sign him in the summer, according to Mundo Deportivo (via SportWitness), and talks between the two teams are well underway.

The 27-year-old Frenchman has no future at Barcelona, so a permanent departure would be perfect for all parties. Tottenham need more defensive depth, and keeping the 27-year-old could be a prudent move.

The defender is expected to be signed for roughly €20 million, which seems realistic given his experience and talent.

The defender will be hoping for a regular starting spot at Tottenham Hotspur next season. This summer, the North London giants must sign another central defender. Tottenham need a trustworthy defensive partner for Cristian Romero, and players like Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga could be on their way out in the summer.

Meanwhile, Lenglet hopes to return to form in the coming months. He is now accustomed to English football, and Spurs will expect him to routinely perform at a high level next year.

He was highly respected while at Sevilla, but the move to Barcelona did not work out for him.

It remains to be seen whether the 27-year-old can re-establish his career.
