Tottenham board calls emergency meeting as club make final decision amid Son Heung-min exit

Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur has surfaced as a surprise transfer target for Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad.

According to rumours, Tottenham would reject any proposals for Son Heung-min from Al Ittihad. The South Korean international has emerged as a surprise target for the Saudi Pro League side, who have already added Karim Benzema to their team. They look to be going to waste their time, though, with an opening bid of roughly £51 million.

According to ESPN, Al Ittihad is interested in signing Son.

They’ve already raided Real Madrid for Benzema, with N’Golo Kante primed to join from Chelsea.

They now want Son to come to the Middle East as well, with the Saudis offering to pay a fee in the range of £51 million to close the deal.

According to the article, Tottenham ‘would not be interested in listening to an approach if a formal deal is made’.

And it appears they are confident in retaining the 30-year-old, who has been an important player since his arrival in 2015.

Despite his struggles last season, he remains an important player for the team, having scored 145 goals in 371 games.

Son isn’t the only player rumored to be leaving the capital.

Harry Kane is in high demand, with Manchester United and Real Madrid also keen.

Tottenham, on the other hand, are hoping to keep the 29-year-old, who scored twice in England’s 7-0 thrashing of North Macedonia on Monday night.

Kane’s contract expires in a year.

That means the Spurs must sell their talisman now or risk losing him for nothing in a year.

However, Tottenham appear to be willing to take that risk as they build for a brighter future.

Meanwhile, Son became Tottenham’s sixth all-time leading scorer in April.

And he made it clear he saw his future at Spurs by admitting he’d love to build on his tally in the coming years ahead.

“I think I’ve got a few more years to play yet, so I will try to keep scoring more goals,” said the forward.

“I want to go a little bit higher [in the top scorers list], so I will do my best.

“It’s a big honour to have been playing for a few years now at this club.

“The human side is more important than all of that.” It’s a pleasure to be with him, and he undoubtedly want to continue for a few more years.
