Tottenham Hotspur’s leadership has great hopes for teenage centre-back Alfie Dorrington, who recently signed a new deal with the club.
According to The Athletic, the 18-year-old was named the Spurs player to watch out for during pre-season after working with the senior team.
Alfie Dorrington has yet to make his Tottenham Hotspur first-team debut. However, towards the close of last season, he began to establish himself in the under-21 side.
In reality, he played in their final four Premier League 2 games last season. And he’ll be aiming to get going in the coming months.
But perhaps his goals are already set considerably higher.According to The Athletic, Dorrington is well valued at Tottenham. He recently extended his contract till 2026.
Of course, the appointment of Ange Postecoglou should excite players like Dorrington, who have undoubtedly worried whether they will find a road to the first-team.
Postecoglou is not the type of person who will only think about the next result. Ultimately, his team will play the manner he desires.
As a result, there are bound to be a few surprises in pre-season. Some players will be better suited to his style than others. This could include squad members who were written off by previous managers.
This is not to say that Dorrington will be a first-team regular come next season. However, if he can demonstrate in the coming weeks that he has the capacity to perform exactly what Postecoglou wants from his center-backs, he will undoubtedly be on the manager’ radar.
