Tottenham Hotspur may be about to derail one of their Premier League rivals’ transfer ambitions as they enter the hunt for a £70 million star.
Tottenham Hotspur may be poised to derail one of their Premier League rivals’ transfer plans if they enter the fight for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti.
Spurs have the 23-year-old on their list of prospective Harry Kane replacements, according to Galetti, but he will face a stiff competition for his signature this summer.
Tottenham are interested in signing Vlahovic if Kane joins Bayern Munich, according to Foot Mercato.
The England captain is a target for the German giants, who are yet to replace Robert Lewandowski following his move to Barcelona last year.
Regarding how much he could cost, transfer insider Dean Jones recently informed GIVEMESPORT that Juventus value their centre-forward at around £70m.
It’s a lot of money, but it’s probably what it’ll cost to replace a No.9 of Kane’s caliber if he leaves Hotspur Way before the transfer window shuts.
According to Galetti, Tottenham, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich are all interested in Vlahovic.
“Despite the Blues’ strong interest,” the journalist told GIVEMESPORT, “let’s focus on the competition for the Serbian player: PSG and Bayern Munich are still keeping an eye on Harry Kane. Tottenham are also in the running: Spurs are looking for ways to get around Bayern Munich’s continuous pressure on Kane.
Tottenham’s priority is getting Kane to sign a new contract and if they do that, then there obviously will not be a need for Vlahovic.
According to The Telegraph, the north London outfit are prepared to offer their talisman a deal worth £400,000 a week, so it is not impossible that he puts pen to paper on a fresh deal. That kind of money could be hard to turn down, especially when it is coming from a club he loves so much.
Tottenham have signed James Maddison from Leicester City and Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli this summer, but their priority this summer has always been to tie Kane down to a new contract, which they appear to be trying to achieve.
While Spurs will be anxious to keep Kane, there are likely to be a few players they are willing to let go. Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele spent last season on loan, so the club is likely to be receptive to bids for them.
Overall, Ange Postecoglou’s squad requires a shake-up following the catastrophic 2022/23 season in which his new team failed to qualify for European football.
Tottenham, on the other hand, must work hard to keep Kane. If they lose him, they could struggle again next season, especially if they are unable to find a top forward to replace him, such as Vlahovic.
