Tottenham and Chelsea are two clubs that just do not like doing business with each other.

The two London clubs have a bitter rivalry, and in the past, transfer concerns have strained relationships with the hierarchy at both clubs.

With Roman Abramovich gone and Todd Boehly in, there is allegedly room for possible transfers this summer, and Tottenham have already identified a target.

Spurs have emerged as unexpected contenders to acquire Edouard Mendy, who has dropped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge this season, according to the source.

The Senegal international joined the Blues for a fee of £22 million (Sky Sports), although he is now only a backup to Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Mendy is likely to leave Chelsea this summer, and if Tottenham is able to sign him, it will be a tremendous coup.

Edouard Mendy, like many of his Chelsea teammates, has had a terrible season.

The 31-year-old has only appeared once in the Premier League since the World Cup, and he is practically certain to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

Mendy’s stock has dropped following an unsuccessful season, although he is still a competent goalie. In his first year with Chelsea, he helped the club win the Champions League.

Tottenham fans will want to replace Lloris with a much better goalkeeper this summer, but Mendy is not a bad choice. It will be fascinating to see whether a move occurs.
