Tottenham finally accept £100m bid for Kane as spur eye last minute world record signing

According to rumors, England star Harry Kane might quit Tottenham Hotspur ‘in days’ after being linked with Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

Kane’s contract expires in 2024, and it appears increasingly probable that he will depart the club this summer or before the 2024/25 season.

The forward scored 30 Premier League goals in what was a remarkable season for him in 2022/23, and he is now being pursued by clubs around Europe.

Man United are looking for at least one new striker for next season, with Kane, Rasmus Hojlund, and Randal Kolo Muani among those being linked.

Daniel Levy is a notorious tough negotiator, and a deal with Man Utd will always be difficult due to the Tottenham chief’s unwillingness to do business with their Premier League competitors.

Bayern Munich and PSG are also interested in Kane, who is expected to depart Spurs soon, according to Football Insider.

On Tuesday evening, they speculated that Kane ‘may be gone in days after a fresh development’. Negotiations are thought to be accelerating, with Tottenham apparently eager to cash in on their talisman. The report continues.

As a result, Kane is expected to leave before the start of the 2023-24 season, which sees the Lilywhites face Brentford on August 13.

‘Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (25 July) that the 29-year-old will be sold this summer if he doesn’t sign a new contract with Spurs.

‘The Australian is expected to receive a large percentage of any potential fee to secure a replacement for Kane – and will want to get any new signing up to speed in a timely fashion. Tottenham are believed to be holding out for a fee of £100million for Kane.’

Ex-England international Stuart Pearce reckons £80m would be a fair price for Kane and he reckons Tottenham would struggle without him.

“It’ll go a long way,” Pearce told talkSPORT. “At the start of any season you look at your squad, go through it and see how many goals you’ve got in your squad and each goal equates to a point, near enough.”

“If you look at the league table at the end of the season and a team has scored 70 goals, chances are they’re in the top 70.” You’re taking a lot of goals away from your squad by losing Harry Kane.”

When asked if he intends to quit, Pearce replied, “I literally have no idea.” If I were someone like Manchester United, I’d come in and acquire him.

“Because of the freedom of contract, there is no resale value when you buy a player, so it doesn’t really matter.” All clubs are buying for the here and now – the upcoming season and whatever happens after that.

“We talked about £80 million, and I think that’s a fair price for someone who can guarantee 20 goals or more.”
